Yamazaki Mazak India recently inaugurated its state-of-the-art Technology Centreat Sanaswadi, Pune. During this event, Tomohisa Yamazaki, President, Yamazaki Mazak Corporation, Japan, introduced the company and its plans for India. Then the Chief Guest, Prayasvin Patel, CMD, Elecon Engineering Co Ltd (the first customer of Mazak in India), shared his experience of working with Mazak. Also present on this occasion were M Lokeswara Rao, President, IMTMA; Takashi Yamazaki, Senior MD, Sales and Marketing, Yamazaki Mazak Corporation, Japan; Vivek Sharma, MD, Yamazaki Mazak Singapore; and customers and invitees of Mazak. It is Mazak's 78th Tech Centre worldwide, and the company is planning to have two more such centres at Chennai and New Delhi in future.The centre is a knowledge-based facility and will offer new technologies and customised solutions to Mazak’s customers in India. The Tech Centre features a range of multi-tasking machines, horizontal and vertical machining centres, lathes and laser-cutting machines. With this, Mazak India would now be able to offer the customerscost-effective turnkey machining solutions, right from process planning to optimal selection of machines, design and manufacture of fixtures, cutting& component trials, backed up by inspection equipment like CMM, spindle repair facilities, training facility and an advanced spare parts storage and retrieval system.The spindle repair facility is one of the five that Mazak has worldwide and would greatly reduce the cost and time of spindle repair on Mazak machines. Talking about the Technology Centre, Takashi Yamazakisaid, “India is on a high growth path and we are closely monitoring the untapped potential. Our decision to build a worldclass Technology Center at Pune is a proof of our intentions that we are here to stay and grow”. Vivek Sharma informed that 95% of the critical spares for machines would be now available ex-stock at the Pune Tech Centre, significantly reducing downtime on machines. The Technology Centre is equipped with an auditorium and conference rooms for technical seminars and a solution gallery that exhibits processing solutions.Another unique service being offered is an online service facility with a toll-free number available to all Mazak customers for trouble-shooting.
